In every man’s life there are crosses and wounds. Excluding God there is no solution for this. Thus says St. Augustine, “God wounds us to cure”. There are mental and physical wounds in our lives. The first aid for mental wound is to whole heartedly forgive the one who caused the wounds. Jesus Christ is the best example. “…… Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Mat 5:44 ). This position of the word is a best pain – killer. So also the physical wounds. The ability to endure diseases and healing are same in a sense. “….gold is tested in the fire, and those found acceptable, in the furnace of humiliation” (Sirach 2:5). It is very dearly dealt at length about healing diseases in the Old Testament. “My child, when you are ill, does not delay, but pray to the Lord, and he will heal you. Give up your faults and direct your hands rightly and elegance your heart from all sin. Offer a sweet smelling sacrifice and a memorial portion of choice flower, and pour oil on your offering as much as you can afford. Then give the physician his place, for the Lord created him; do not let him leave you, for you need him. There may come a time when recovery lies in the hands of physicians, for they too pray to the lord that he grant them success in diagnosis and in healing, for the sake of preserving life. He who sins against his maker will be defiant toward the physician” (Sirach 38 9-15). One thing is dear from this. It is not medicines or operation that cures one’s disease but God the father is the most high physician.(1 Cor 3:7). Therefore when you are sick, before going to the doctor, trust in God and He will definitely heal you.
