In 2008, the first retreat programme for priests named ‘Sehion Priest’s Conference’ was conducted from November 24 to 29. In this conference 161 priests from different parts of the country took part. In his address, Mar Jacob Manathodath, Bishop of palghat explained the importance and the need for prayer and for priest’s conferences especially during this time. Most of the priests who joined the conference suggested that such programmes be conducted again in the coming years.

The priests who took part in this retreat formed a conference at Sehion and started various cell groups. After the discussion and prayer, they resolved to conduct retreat programme in 2009 from 19th to 24th July and from 22nd to 27th November. The number of priests in the conference increased steadily. It was at this auspicious time that the Pope Benedict XVI declared a ‘Priests’ Year’. It may also be noted that a special programme for the parents and the relatives of the priests, is conducted at Sehion on every second Saturday. All are most welcome to attend these programmes and benefit by them
In the wake of the declaration of the Priests’ Year (June 19, 2009 to June 19, 2010) a decision was taken to conduct retreats for priests in the first week (Sunday to Friday) of every month from June 2009.
